Title: PHILOSOPHY OF HUMOR
Authors: Taylor, Jake
Advisors: Harman, Gilbert H.
Contributors: Burgess, John P.
Department: Philosophy
Class Year: 2015
Abstract: In my thesis I examine three preeminent theories of humor. They are the Superiority Theory, Incongruity Theory and Relief Theory. Ultimately I find that devising one theory that correctly identifies the essence of humor is incredibly difficult because humor is not a category of phenomena but a lens through which an individual views phenomena.
