Title: Time to Contact for Autonomous Vehicles: Analysis and Estimation from Image Sequences

Abstract: In this thesis, I estimate time to contact values in driving scenarios using image sequences from a camera mounted on a vehicle. I focus on the time to contact between our vehicle and a lead vehicle, when both vehicles are in a straight lane. Accurate estimates of time to contact can be used for a rear-end crash avoidance system for vehicles, and ultimately for fully autonomous vehicles.
