Abstract: This paper presents Procrustes, an automatic home network prophylactic!The number of devices attached to the Internet is and has been rising steadily, as predicted, but the number of unique devices is now growing more rapidly. Procrustes seeks to shoulder the burden of managing increasingly complex home networks by subduing threats to the broad class of IoT devices that make up a modern-day smarthome. Based upon the assumption that each IoT device performs only a limited set of functions, we (i) define a language by which these functions may be expressed as traffic policies, (ii) implement a database for the storage of such policies, (iii) install an OpenFlow-enabled access point, and (iv) develop an SDN application to connect these components and articulate traffic policies to the network. We do this to demonstrate the capabilities of a dynamic and automated network in anticipation of Manufacturer Usage Descriptions (MUD).
