Title: Halftime Show Script Analysis and Homophone Pun Generation

Abstract: This study takes a closer look at humor generation, specifically at adding puns to sentences. It analyses the old archives of halftime show scripts for the Princeton University Band and develops an algorithm to add homophone puns to text in order to aid in the process of writing halftime show scripts. These shows are usually nonsensical and made to poke fun at the school that the Princeton football team is playing, however, they are long and tedious to write, so the goal of this study was to create a tool that would help cut down on the time needed to write them. While failing to create true puns, this study produces an algorithm which could be useful in giving ideas for the band to develop further and turn into a full halftime show script.
