Abstract: | Much attention has been given to profiling the performance and power consumption of Android mobile devices in recent years. Previous efforts have led to power models based on hardware component usage, battery sensor discharge information, and register- based hardware event counters. However, there are some areas in which previous work has been deficient: specifically, there has been little emphasis on how memory access and disk writes affect power consumption. This work seeks to outline the power consumption of Android applications that are characterized by memory accesses and disk IO in addition to pro ling CPU-bound applications, while also comparing the power performance of several popular applications. |
