Description: The first organized soccer club in the U.S. was the New York Ramblers, founded in 1980. The Ramblers provided a safe space for gay men, who enjoyed the sport, to meet and socialize outside of the traditional settings of bars and clubs. Many clubs around the U.S. and globally have followed suite. In an effort to support the growth of the game, the IGLFA was founded in 1992 and has had over 80 clubs globally flow in and out of their organization. In 2016, the US LGBT Soccer organization was founded to support the existence and growth of LGBT soccer in the United States. Our goal is to fill a void between the local and international level to bring long standing value, tradition and opportunity to LGBT soccer players nationwide.
