Title: Life in Transit: The Labor Experience of Senegalese Street Vendors in Granada
Authors: Wright, Julianna
Advisors: Coyle, Lauren
Department: Anthropology
Class Year: 2017
Abstract: This thesis is an ethnography of the Senegalese Street Vendors working in a small touristy plaza in Granada Spain. While much work has been done on the journey that Senegalese Migrants make to Spain, there is little known about the lived experience upon arrival. Looking at the intersection of their identity as Senegalese migrants, and workers in the informal economy, I examine the ways in which these vendors are excluded from Spanish society, and the legitimating tactics used to promote their inclusion.
