Title: Social Justice and Access to Health Care: The Opportunity Account
Authors: Andresen, David
Advisors: Dasgupta, Shamik
Department: Philosophy
Class Year: 2013
Abstract: Norman Daniels provides a theory of just health care based on the direct effect of health on normal species functioning and thus the normal opportunity range. Daniels’ opportunity account is sufficient for justifying our obligation to provide health care, but cannot tell us how we ought to allocate health care.
