dc.description.abstract | Hybrid Unmanned Aerial-Underwater Vehicles (HUAUV) combine many of the benefits of unmanned aerial vehicles and undermanned underwater vehicles. The ability to transition between aerial and underwater operations would open numerous possibilities. However, no craft has yet been able to successfully navigate both realms. This project begins designs such a vehicle from first principles. The design is then constructed and tested to determine the feasibility of such a device. The craft was able to successfully submerge and navigate underwater, but technical troubles prevented a successful flight. Nevertheless, this project introduced unique technologies and novel implementations; the findings of this study should assist subsequent groups in their attempts. | en_US |
