Title: | The Name of the Game: An Autoethnographic Reflection on the Choreographic Process |
Authors: | Griffin, Clark |

Department: | Anthropology |
Class Year: | 2018 |
Abstract: | I have spent this past academic year choreographing a full-length dance show, The Name of the Game, for my Certificate in the Program of Dance. This thesis is an autoethnographic reflection on the process, documenting my creative interests, teaching methods, choreographic practices and experiences performing and rehearsing with my cast. Throughout the year, and my Princeton career as a whole, I have had to navigate various social, administrative, academic and institutional fields in order to realize my vision. Through autoethnography, I hope to bring awareness and understanding to the positionality and experience of artists—and specifically dancers—on Princeton’s campus with the intention of garnering further institutional support and recognition for the performing arts. |
