Abstract: | Electronic Sports (E-Sports), or commonly known as online competitive gaming, is currently one of the fastest growing industries in the world. Despite having a big potential to become a well worth-investing industry, the idea of ‘education through E-Sports’ has raised its awareness as well. According to the theories behind ORFE, students are ultimately tying to make optimal decisions through mathematical models under uncertainty with real-world data. Frankly speaking, E-Sports is an industry full of uncertainty – its growth rate and popularity; thus, it is extremely intriguing to come up with optimal decisions in various game plays; that is, predicting how the opponents behave from an financial engineer’s perspective, and ultimately, predict the future trend of E-Sports in the next 10 years or so. Hence, the uncertainties that we face include the followings: what are the societal values of E-Sports? What are the impacts have E-Sports brought to our young generations? Is it beneficial to educate students through E-Sports at Princeton and other universities? We ought to delve into the questions mentioned, from which they eventually bring forward the focus of the initial statement: – Is E-Sports an industry that is worth investing money in? |
