Abstract: | Hom3Design is an iOS application that motivates users to create 3D scans of their furniture with its unique and streamlined 3D room-design platform. The application uses a commercial depth sensor and its associated SDK to interactively create 3D scans of furniture in real time. Users can create floor plans and furnish them with their own furniture models. All furniture scans are uploaded to a central server to create a large crowd-sourced dataset. To determine the usefulness of the collected scans and the usefulness of the application in motivating users to scan their furniture, I evaluate the quality of the scans created by the application and perform user tests to determine the usability of the room modeling component. 2 |
