dc.description.abstract | We measure the coherent Rayleigh-Brillouin scattering (CRBS) signal integral as a function of the recorded gas pressure in He, Co2, SF6, and air, and we confirm the already established quadratic dependence of the signal on the gas density. We propose the use of CRBS as an effective diagnostic for the remote measurement of gas’ density (pressure) and temperature, as well as polarizability, for gases of known composition. | en_US |
dc.description.tableofcontents | Both files are TAB limited. FIG3.txt: -In the first column is the time as recorded on the oscilloscope. -The second column is the frequency/time conversion through the analysis of the chirped lattice that results in the CRBS spectrum. -The third column is the corresponding group phase velocity of the lattice, resulting from the frequency and the crossing angle of 178 degrees. -The fourth column is the CRBS signal for SF6 gas as recorded on the oscilloscope. -The fifth column is the normalized CRBS signal from the fourth column. RawData.txt: -These are the raw data recordings for the gases presented in FIG4. What is plotted in FIG4 is the average value per pressure per gas out of the three measurements. FIG4.txt: -First column is the pressure, which is the X axis of the plot of FIG4. -The next four columns (2,3,4,5) are respectively the Average Y, Average Y minus the Recorded background, Standard error and theoretical curve for SF6. -The next four columns (6,7,8,9) are respectively the Average Y, Average Y minus the Recorded background, Standard error and theoretical curve for air. -The next column (10) is the recorded signal for Helium minus the recorded background. -The next four columns (11,12,13,14) are respectively the Average Y, Average Y minus the Recorded background, Standard error and theoretical curve for CO2. -Also included in the repository are photos of the Origin file where these data were processed, showing the recorded BG values that were used. | en_US |
