Title: Reconstructing the Past: Analysis, Design and Assembly of Arago's Disk
Authors: Owens, Caleb
Advisors: Littman, Michael
Department: Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
Class Year: 2019
Abstract: This senior thesis seeks to explore and reconstruct Francois Arago’s Disk with 3D printed parts. Arago’s Disk and his subsequent rotations set the stage for the discoveries of Michael Faraday. In this project, I designed and assembled Arago’s initial invention to implement the old discovery with new technology. By doing so I hope to emphasize both the simplicity and the magnitude of Arago’s work.
