Abstract: | Inspired by the Christian faith and compositional techniques of J.S. Bach, Olivier Messiaen, and Arvo Pärt, I set three of the Psalms for voice and piano. Western influences are combined with the Chinese pentatonic scale. The resulting fruit redefines Western theory and reveals new tonal possibilities. |
